Mitigation Planning Training
The State and Local Mitigation Planning Policy Guides and the Tribal Mitigation Plan Review Guide detail the process to complete an approved mitigation plan under applicable laws and regulations (see 44 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 201 Mitigation Planning).
If you need technical assistance incorporating data into your hazard mitigation plan visit the Guidance for FEMA’s Risk Mapping, Assessment and Planning page and search “Mitigation Planning” for the guidance document titled “Incorporating Mitigation Planning Technical Assistance into Risk MAP Projects” (February 2018) to learn more about available resources and procedures to request assistance. The purpose of this guidance is to describe how Risk MAP Project Teams can provide communities with mitigation planning technical assistance throughout the Risk MAP project lifecycle.

Mitigation Planning Training
The National Hazard Mitigation Planning Program, in partnership with the Emergency Management Institute (EMI), offers a suite of fundamental trainings designed to help state, local, tribal and territorial governments create effective hazard mitigation plans that meet FEMA’s requirements and reduce risk in their communities. As each of these audiences has different requirements, each training is specifically tailored to them. Additionally, the program offers several advanced trainings and technical assistance related to pertinent areas in hazard mitigation planning. These range from webinar recordings to on-demand workshops.
