The COVID-19 incident period ended on May 11, 2023. FEMA will continue to provide funeral assistance until Sept. 30, 2025, to those who have lost loved ones due to this pandemic.

Expanded Assistance for Disaster Survivors

FEMA has recently changed the Individual Assistance Program and Policy Guide to create additional flexibilities that ensure access to assistance is equitably provided to all survivors. The policy changes apply to disasters declared on or after August 23, 2021.
