Baton Rouge, LA -- State and federal officials have announced August 12, 2001, as the deadline for applying for Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) for residents of three parishes who are out of work because of Tropical Storm Allison. This deadline affects residents of East Feliciana, St. Helena, and West Baton Rouge parishes. Individuals must apply during the open application period, even if they do not expect to receive benefits immediately. DUA claims may be filed at the Louisiana Department Of Labor Job Centers serving these parishes.

Baton Rouge, LA -- The last day to register for federal disaster assistance is Friday, August 10, 2001. Residents of Louisiana who suffered damage from Tropical Storm Allison between June 5 and 22 must register before that day for federal disaster assistance programs. Those who have suffered damages and don't register during the open application period will not be eligible for programs currently available.

Baton Rouge, LA -- Following the floods generated by Tropical Storm Allison, President Bush declared a federal disaster in Louisiana on June 11. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Louisiana Office of Emergency Preparedness (LOEP) have teams in the field inspecting damages and many disaster assistance programs are active. The disaster declaration now covers 27 parishes.

Baton Rouge, LA -- Lafourche Parish residents who wish to have face-to-face meetings with recovery specialists to get answers to questions and check on the status of their applications have just a short time to visit the Disaster Recovery Center (DRC). State and federal officials have announced the closing of the DRC in Thibodaux and the opening of a U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA) workshop in that facility.

Baton Rouge, LA -- Federal disaster funds have been made available for West Feliciana Parish to help local governments rebuild public property damaged by Tropical Storm Allison in Louisiana, the head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today. FEMA Director Joe M. Allbaugh said the assistance was approved following a review of damage data gathered by federal and state disaster recovery officials.
