BATON ROUGE, La. – Nearly a decade after hurricanes Katrina and Rita devastated Louisiana, hard-hit communities are coming back stronger than ever. To date, assistance to Louisiana’s residents and communities from the Louisiana Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency totals more than $19.6 billion.

NEW ORLEANS – As Louisianans reflect on their rebuilding accomplishments since Hurricane Rita’s devastating blow on Sept. 24, 2005, the Federal Emergency Management Agency continues to aid in the state’s restoration, supported by more than $1.3 billion in federal grants.

NEW ORLEANS – The Federal Emergency Management Agency recently announced nearly $13.6 million in additional funding to repair sewage systems, canal crossings and roads in St. Bernard Parish damaged by Hurricane Katrina. “These projects are a result of the continued partnership between St. Bernard Parish and FEMA,” said Parish President David Peralta. “The additional monies will help fund major infrastructure projects and improve the quality of life for the residents of St. Bernard Parish.”

FEMA Grants Additional $1.2 Million to Rebuild Louisiana State University School of Dentistry Physical Plant
NEW ORLEANS – The Federal Emergency Management Agency recently announced an additional $1.2 million in recovery aid to Louisiana Facility Planning and Control to rebuild the physical plant at the Louisiana State University School of Dentistry, including mitigation measures to help prevent damage from future storms.
