OWATONNA, Minn. -- Federal disaster assistance programs come in several forms. For short-term emergency needs, assistance comes in the form of disaster grants for immediate housing requirements, emergency repairs and other serious disaster-related expenses. These programs are meant to help people begin their recovery; they are not designed to return people’s lives to their pre-disaster conditions.

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- A toll-free application telephone number is now operational for those who suffered property damage or loss in the declared counties affected by the severe storms and flooding beginning September 14, 2004.

» Federal Aid Programs For Minnesota Disaster Recovery WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The head of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced today that President Bush has declared a major disaster for Minnesota, opening the way for the use of federal disaster funds to help meet the recovery needs of flood-stricken people and communities in the southeastern part of the state.
