FEMA PROVIDES $2.5 MILLION TO SALT LAKE COUNTY FOR COVID-19

DENVER – FEMA has approved more than $2.5 million in additional
Public Assistance funding for the COVID-19 response in Utah. The
assistance was made available under a major disaster declaration
issued April 4, 2020. FEMA has provided more than $166.2 million in
Public Assistance funding for the Utah COVID-19 response to date.

FEMA awarded the funding to Salt Lake County to reimburse the county
for the cost of providing non-congregate sheltering to high-risk
individuals who were under quarantine orders or were required to
isolate and unable to return to their homes.  This included first
responders and health care workers who were required to quarantine
safely without exposing their families.

For the COVID-19 response, FEMA has simplified the Public Assistance
application and funding process to address the magnitude of this event
and to allow local officials to receive eligible funding more quickly.
These reimbursements play a critical role as state, tribal and local
officials work tirelessly to assist their communities during this
response.
