Applicants can visit the North Shore Branch Library, 7501 Collins Ave., Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday and Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The President’s emergency declaration June 25 authorizes FEMA to offer its Individuals and Households Program to survivors of the building collapse at 8777 Collins Avenue. Survivors whose primary home was destroyed by the building collapse may be eligible for financial assistance for temporary housing and uninsured losses. Financial assistance may also available under the Other Needs Assistance program to assist with funeral and medical expenses, uninsured losses to personal property and vehicles, and other necessary expenses and serious needs caused by the disaster. Applicants may also register with FEMA by calling 800-621-3362 (TTY: 800-462-7585) to speak with a FEMA specialist. The deadline for registering with FEMA is Aug. 24, 2021. The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) also has representatives assisting businesses, homeowners and renters at the North Shore Branch Library. Homeowners may borrow up to $200,000 to repair or replace a primary residence. Homeowners and renters may borrow up to $40,000 to replace personal property, including vehicles. Businesses in Miami-Dade, Broward, Collier and Monroe counties with disaster-related economic losses resulting from the building collapse may be eligible for economic injury loans. In addition, SBA is operating a Business Recovery Center (BRC) at Geneva Tailor, 9484 Harding Ave. The center operates Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., closed Sunday.
