In her PrepTalk, Dr. Lori Peek examines the needs of children in disasters and explains there is opportunity to work with children before a disaster strikes. Peek provides emergency managers with specific disaster management measures to reduce the vulnerability of children.  

Dr. Lori Peek is director of the Natural Hazards Center and professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Colorado Boulder. She studies vulnerable populations in disasters and is co-editor of "Displaced: Life in the Katrina Diaspora", and co-author of "Children of Katrina".
