WASHINGTON — The federal government continues to take aggressive and proactive steps to address the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, moving supplies to medical hot spots every day.
“My current focus has been and will continue to be to make sure we get critical supplies to those places around the country that need them the most,” said FEMA Administrator Pete Gaynor.
Under the direction of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, FEMA, HHS and our federal partners are working with state, local, tribal and territorial governments to execute a whole of government response to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and protect the public.

FEMA Field Hospital setup at the Jacob Javits Convention Center
New York Army National Guard soldiers of the 133rd Composite Supply Company, part of the 53rd Troop Command, warehouse and inventory the initial shipments of a FEMA field hospital for setup at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City March 25. The Javits Center will be converted to a temporary medical facility to ease the bed shortage of New York hospitals as part of the response to the COVID-19 outbreak. USNS Mercy Development 2020

Mercy deployed in support of the nation's COVID-19 response efforts and will serve as a referral hospital for non-COVID-19 patients who are admitted to shore-based hospitals. This allows shore-based hospitals to focus their efforts on COVID-19 cases. One of the Department of Defense's missions is defense support of civil authorities. DoD is supporting FEMA, the lead federal agency, as well as state, local and public health authorities in helping protect the health and safety of the American people.

Idaho Strategic National Supply Delivery

Surging capacity and capability
Army National Guard service members from the 222nd Transportation Company, Florence, Ariz., haul a trailer for a local grocery store to surge capacity and capability, helping to close logistical gaps in the local supply chain. The Arizona National Guard activated more than 700 Arizona citizen-soldiers and airmen to support grocery stores, food banks and other community needs during this state of emergency response.
