WASHINGTON — The whole-of-America response to fighting the COVID-19 pandemic continues today, with more international flights arriving in Chicago and Louisville, Kentucky, carrying much-needed medical supplies, while National Guardsmen helped move medical supplies to hot spots around the nation and distributed meals in New York.
Meanwhile, COVID-19 drive-thru testing began in New Jersey this weekend for symptomatic health-care workers and first responders.
Under the White House Coronavirus Task Force's direction, FEMA, HHS and our federal partners are working with state, local, tribal and territorial governments to execute a whole-of-America response to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and protect the public. In addition to the nationwide emergency declaration, President Trump has granted 50 major disaster declarations to states, territories and the District of Columbia.
To date, FEMA has obligated more than $4 billion in support of COVID-19 efforts. In the last seven days FEMA has:
- Airlifted crucial supplies and protective equipment from every corner of the Earth. Since last Sunday, cargo planes have delivered nearly 300 million gloves, almost 8 million masks, and 3 million gowns.
- The government is delivering an additional 600,000 N-95 masks to New York City to support its public hospital system, as requested by Mayor Bill de Blasio. Another 200,000 will be delivered to Suffolk County on Long Island
- Over the last 48 hours, FEMA has delivered an additional 500 ventilators to New Jersey. In addition, Louisiana has received 200, Michigan has received 300 and Illinois has gotten or will get 600 to address potential hotspots.
Project Air Bridge Delivers Supplies for Nationwide Distribution
CHICAGO (April 6, 2020) — An international cargo plane arrives at Chicago O’Hare International Airport with medical supplies for nationwide distribution in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The delivery is part of a FEMA air bridge to bring supplies, such as N-95 respirators, surgical masks, gloves and gowns to battle COVID-19. FEMA continues to schedule flights to bring supplies to the hardest hit areas.

(April 5, 2020) — An international cargo plane arrives at the Louisville International Airport with 1.19 million surgical masks, 682,400 surgical gowns and 2 million medical swabs for nationwide distribution in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The delivery is part of a FEMA air bridge to bring supplies, such as N-95 respirators, surgical masks, gloves and gowns to battle COVID-19. FEMA continues to schedule flights to bring supplies to the hardest hit areas.

New York Army National Guard Supports Meal Distribution
NEW YORK (April 6, 2020) — New York Army National Guard Pfc. Amberly Valdivieso, left, and Spc. Norckenly Cadet, both assigned to the 1st Battalion, 258th Field Artillery, part of the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, conduct food loading operations at the Kingsbridge Armory in the Bronx, N.Y., in support of New York City meal distribution efforts. Citywide, the National Guard has helped deliver more than 337,358 meals in the city. The Soldiers are part of a statewide effort of more than 2,800 members of the New York National Guard responding to community needs to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 virus.

New Jersey’s Community Based Testing Site Opens at PNC Bank Arts Center
HOLMDEL, N.J. (April 4, 2020) — One of New Jersey’s Community Based Testing Sites (CBTS) -- the PNC Bank Arts Center in Monmouth County -- is a drive-thru testing site for COVID-19. This site, along with Bergen Community College in Paramus, is open every Saturday for testing symptomatic health-care workers and first responders.
