Environmental Assessment for Rapid City West Radio Tower, City Of Rapid City, Pennington County, South Dakota (June 2012)
The purpose of the grant is to enhance and improve local preparedness and security capabilities. Pennington County has established that in order to do so, there is a need to provide public safety telecommunication infrastructure that is capable of establishing and maintaining interoperable radio coverage during emergency events. This new Tower Site will support a variety of public safety and governmental radio systems, for both local and state public safety and service agencies. This Tower Site will also be capable of supporting other frequency bands as well as mobile data systems in the future. In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969, National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), Executive Order 11988, Executive Order 11990, and 44 CFR Part 10, the implementing regulations of FEMA.
