Laura Survivors Must Register with FEMA -- Just Once – for Housing Eligibility

Release Date:
十月 1, 2020

Hurricane Laura survivors, registered with FEMA, in Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, Jefferson Davis and Vernon parishes may be considered for direct temporary housing.

There is no need to register more than once, and no additional application is required to be considered for housing. Once a survivor is registered, FEMA will call applicants whose homes were destroyed or are uninhabitable to discuss housing needs and to determine the next steps.

Survivors who have not registered previously can register by phone, online or through their smartphone:

  • Call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362 (TTY 800-462-7585)
  • Visit DisasterAssistance.gov
  • Download the FEMA Mobile App at fema.gov/about/news-multimedia/app or get a link to download it via text messaging on an Android device (text ANDROID to 43362) or Apple device (text APPLE to 43362)

Those who use a relay service such as a videophone, InnoCaption or CapTel should update FEMA with their specific number assigned to that service.
