FEMA Region 1 oversees federal emergency management for Tribal Nations of New England and the following states:

Our main office is located in downtown Boston; we also have a Regional Response Coordination Center located twenty miles west of Boston in Maynard, Massachusetts.

Risk Mapping, Assessment and Planning (Risk MAP) is a national FEMA program that works with states, tribes, territories and local communities to evaluate and better understand their current flood risk, as well as the actions that can be taken to mitigate and become more resilient against future risk.

Regional Administrator (Acting)

Mr. Ford joined FEMA in 1992 as a Natural Hazards Program Specialist in the Mitigation Division and has worked in several regional roles in areas of insurance, floodplain management and leadership. He has also deployed to several disasters including Hurricane Andrew.

Daniel C. McElhinney
Deputy Regional Administrator (Acting)

Mr. McElhinney serves as the Federal Preparedness Coordinator and National Preparedness Division Director for Region one. He is also one of FEMA's Advisors assigned to NATO's Civil-Military Planning and Support Section.
