FEMA APPROVES ADDITIONAL PUBLIC ASSISTANCE PROGRAM AID FOR BOULDER COUNTY [https://www.fema.gov/press-release/20220209/fema-approves-additional-public-assistance-program-aid-boulder-county] DENVER – The Presidential disaster declaration issued Dec. 31, 2021, for Boulder County, Colorado as a result of the Marshall Fire and straight-line winds has been expanded to include funding for repairs and replacement of damaged public infrastructure. FEMA’s Public Assistance Program provides funding to state and local governments and certain types of private nonprofit organizations to restore public infrastructure and conduct response activities supporting public health and safety. The program encourages protection of these damaged facilities from future events by providing assistance for hazard mitigation measures during the recovery process. Boulder County is now eligible to apply for permanent work projects. This can include repair or replacement of disaster-damaged facilities, such as roads, bridges, public utilities, including water treatment and electrical plants, government buildings and parks. FEMA and the state will work with program applicants to make them aware of the additional assistance and identify potential projects for funding. The county had previously been approved for emergency work. This includes debris removal and emergency protective measures, which assist with emergency operations such as sheltering and threats to public health and safety.
