WASHINGTON — The whole-of-America response to fighting the
COVID-19 pandemic continued today, as medical supplies from FEMA’s
Project Airbridge flights were distributed nationwide.  South
Carolina Army National Guardsmen maintained their readiness with
medical pre-screening, while medical and nursing students at the
Uniformed Services Univ. of the Health and Sciences received COVID-19
training – a new requirement as part of their coursework.
FEMA continues to expedite movement of commercially pre-sourced and
commercially procured critical supplies from the global market to
medical distributors in various locations across the U.S. through
Project Airbridge.
As of April 14, 44 flights have been completed to expedite movement of
both private sector distributor-procured supplies (Project Airbridge
[https://www.fema.gov/news-release/2020/04/08/fema-covid-19-supply-chain-task-force-supply-chain-stabilization])
and federal government-procured supplies. An additional 50-plus
flights are scheduled.
To date, FEMA has obligated $5.4 billion in support of COVID-19
efforts. In the last 48 hours, that includes:

 	* $5.4 million to Colorado.
 	* $74 million to Louisiana.
 	* $88 million to Texas.

PROJECT AIRBRIDGE FLIGHT ARRIVES IN ILLINOIS FOR NATIONAL DISTRIBUTION

ROCKFORD, ILL. (APRIL 14, 2020) — A FEMA Project Airbridge flight
arrives at Rockford International Airport with medical supplies for
distribution by companies nationwide, in response to the COVID-19
pandemic. The Russian cargo plane, The Antonov, is part of FEMA’s
Project Airbridge program, which charters planes to transport supplies
like N-95 respirators, surgical masks, gloves and gowns.

UNIFORMED SERVICES UNIVERSITY ADDS COVID-19 TRAINING TO CURRICULUM

BETHESDA, MD. (APRIL 15, 2020) — Medical students and advanced
practice nursing students receive COVID-19 training as part of their
Uniformed Services University of the Health and Sciences curriculum. 
Students are now required to complete COVID-19 training as part of
their USU coursework.

SC NATIONAL GUARD MEDICAL TEAMS PROVIDE SCREENING IN COVID-19 RESPONSE

EASTOVER, S.C. (APRIL 15, 2020) — U.S. Army National Guard medical
personnel with the South Carolina National Guard provide medical
pre-screening to U.S. Army National Guard soldiers. The medical
pre-screening is part of measures in place to limit the COVID-19
exposure for service members and protect the health of the force.
