Hunterdon County, New Jersey: $444,515

Project Description

Hunterdon County, New Jersey, is highly susceptible to riverine flooding caused by thunderstorms, heavy rains, and tropical storms. The remnants of Hurricane Ida, which resulted in significant property damage and loss of life, highlighted the urgent need for federal disaster assistance in the county.

The proposed project aims to acquire one Repetitive Loss property in Delaware Township which has four loss claims due to repeated flood damage. The property owner, who has rebuilt multiple times, is willing to sell the property to mitigate future flood losses. The project will maintain the acquired land as permanent open space through a deed restriction.
