Each year, FEMA’s publishes Notices of Funding Opportunity for the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) and the Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) grant programs. These competitive grant programs assist state, local, tribal and territorial governments to build a culture of preparedness by strengthening our nation’s ability to reduce disaster losses and protect life and property from future disaster damage.

Each year, FEMA’s publishes Notices of Funding Opportunity for the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) and the Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) grant programs. These competitive grant programs assist state, local, tribal and territorial governments to build a culture of preparedness by strengthening our nation’s ability to reduce disaster losses and protect life and property from future disaster damage.

The Fiscal Year 2021 funding notices provide detailed program information, grant application requirements and other administrative requirements needed to apply for funding.  Additional resources and information are available on this FEMA webpage.

Submit an Application

The application period opened Sept. 30, 2021 and closes on Jan. 28, 2022.  Applicants may work with their FEMA Region. Subapplicants may work with their respective applicant (state, tribe or territory) to submit subapplications by the applicant’s own submission deadline.

All applications for the BRIC and Flood Mitigation Assistance grant programs must be submitted to the FEMA GO System.

Webinar Series

For the Fiscal Year 2021 Hazard Mitigation Assistance grant cycle, FEMA hosted a webinar series with subject-matter experts and partners to provide technical information, best practices, tools and resources.  The webinars are designed for leaders in states, local communities, tribes and territories, as well as private sector entities, private non-profit organizations, and individuals interested to learn more about the grant programs and strategies for how to apply.
