WASHINGTON — The whole-of-America response to fighting the COVID-19 pandemic continued today, as FEMA Project Airbridge flights arrived in Chicago with essential medical supplies, postal workers processed and delivered mail and National Guardsmen continued to support response efforts in West Virginia, Oregon and Arizona.
U.S. National Guardsmen are serving at testing facilities, state and local emergency management agencies and operations centers, providing logistics support aand assisting with disinfecting common public spaces.
Under the White House Coronavirus Task Force's direction, FEMA, HHS and our federal partners are working with state, local, tribal and territorial governments to execute a whole-of-America response to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and protect the public. In addition to the nationwide emergency declaration, President Trump has granted 54 major disaster declarations to states, territories and the District of Columbia.
FEMA’s Project Airbridge expedites movement of critical supplies, in varying quantities, from the global market to medical distributors in various locations across the U.S.

To date, Project Airbridge has completed 26 flights with an additional 54 scheduled. Through Project Airbridge, the following supplies have been delivered from overseas manufacturers to the U.S. and into private sector supply chains from March 29 through April 9, 2020:
- 375,000 N-95 masks
- 250.6 million gloves
- 25.1 million surgical masks
- 3.5 million gowns
- 24,000 face shields
To date, FEMA has obligated more than $5 billion in support of COVID-19 efforts.
FEMA, USAID Coordinate PPE Delivery to Oregon
WILSONVILLE, Ore. (April 10, 2020) — An Oregon Army National Guardsmen delivers boxes of personal protective equipment (PPE) to a warehouse before distribution. The shipment was coordinated by FEMA to deliver supplies stored in Dubai by USAID.

W.Va. Nat’l Guard Trains Grocery Store Personnel During COVID-19 Response
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (April 10, 2020) — Sgt. 1st Class Matthew Park of the West Virginia National Guard’s Task Force Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear, Response Enterprise, instructs grocery store managers and employees on decontamination procedures and personal protective equipment protocols. The task force in coordination with the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources and local county health departments, is helping train retail workers around the state to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and protect workers and customers throughout West Virginia.

US Postal Service Continues to Deliver During COVID-19 Response
ALEXANDRIA, Va. (April 9, 2020) — As part of the whole-of-America COVID-19 response, letter carriers case mail whiling wearing face masks inside an Alexandria, Va., post office. These mail carriers are part of the 600,000- employee workforce that is processing, transporting and delivering mail and packages for the American public. The U.S. Postal Service has a dedicated COVID-19 Command Response leadership team that is focusing on employee and customer safety in conjunction with operational and business continuity during the pandemic.

Arizona Air National Guard Delivers PPE Materials to Make Protective Gowns
PHOENIX (April 9, 2020) — A 161st Air Refueling Wing service member unloads materials from a KC-135 Stratotanker at Goldwater Air National Guard Base in Phoenix. The materials will be used to make protective gowns for statewide use. The delivery is part of the Arizona National Guard’s response to community needs during Arizona’s state of emergency.

Project Airbridge Delivers Supplies for Nationwide Distribution
CHICAGO (April 9, 2020) — A FEMA Project Airbridge flight arrives at Chicago O’Hare International Airport with medical supplies for distribution by companies nationwide in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. FEMA is chartering planes to decrease the shipping time for companies to move critical supplies, such as N-95 respirators, surgical masks, gloves and gowns, to the hardest hit areas in the country.
