ADDITIONAL $12.9 MILLION APPROVED TO SUPPORT HELENE RECOVERY [https://www.fema.gov/press-release/20250924/additional-129-million-approved-support-helene-recovery] Release Date: September 10, 2025 ASHEVILLE, N.C. – FEMA announced an additional $12.9 million [https://www.dhs.gov/news/2025/09/09/dhs-announces-millions-fema-grant-disbursements-bolster-north-carolinas-recovery#:~:text=These%20disbursements%20are%20part%20of,alone%20to%20over%20%24161%20million.] in reimbursement funds for 45 North Carolina Tropical Storm Helene recovery projects.  In the last two months, more than $161 million in recovery reimbursements were obligated to the state.  Here are some of the notable FEMA grants obligated to the state and communities: * $2.6 MILLION to Buncombe County for emergency protective measures and repairs to facilities. * $924,000 to the city of Hendersonville for emergency protective measures. * $889,000 to the Asheville-Buncombe Community Christian Ministry, Inc. for repairs to damaged facilities and contents. * $829,000 to the town of Burnsville for emergency temporary water intake systems. FEMA is reimbursing these costs at no less than a 90% federal share through its Public Assistance Program which provides funds for state and local governments response and recovery work. Since Jan. 20, 2025, nearly $322 million in Public Assistance reimbursements has been approved to support the recovery efforts in North Carolina.
