FEMA EXPANDS WASHINGTON DISASTER INCIDENT PERIOD [https://www.fema.gov/fact-sheet/fema-expands-washington-disaster-incident-period] Release Date: Feb 1, 2022 When a Major Disaster Declaration is signed by the president, FEMA specifies an “Incident Period.” This establishes the date range for damage or losses to be eligible for federal disaster assistance. At the request of Gov. Jay Inslee, this period has been expanded for Washington’s recovery from severe storms, straight-line winds, flooding, landslides and mudslides. The original incident period was Nov. 13 through Nov. 15, 2021. Effective Jan. 27, 2022, the incident period is Nov. 5 through Dec. 2, 2021. More households now may be eligible for FEMA assistance. Individuals and households in the following areas with uninsured damage from the disaster may apply for FEMA assistance: Clallam, Skagit and Whatcom counties, the Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe, Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe, Lummi Nation, Makah Tribe, Nooksack Indian Tribe, Quileute Tribe, Samish Indian Nation, Sauk-Suiattle Indian Tribe, Swinomish Indian Tribal Community and Upper Skagit Indian Tribe. If you already applied for federal assistance and were told that your damages were outside the incident period, your application will automatically be considered; you can call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362 to check on the status of your application. To apply: Visit disasterassistance.gov [http://www.disasterassistance.gov/], call the Helpline, or use the FEMA mobile app [https://www.fema.gov/about/news-multimedia/mobile-app-text-messages]. If you use a relay service, such as video relay (VRS), captioned telephone or other service, give FEMA the number for that service. The deadline to apply is March 7.  If you have already applied for a U.S. Small Business Administration low-interest disaster loan, there is no need to apply again.
