FEMA Provides an Additional $8.4 Million to Utah for Covid-19 Response

DENVER – FEMA has approved more than $8.4 million in additional Public Assistance funding for the COVID-19 response in Utah. The assistance was made available under a major disaster declaration issued April 4, 2020. FEMA has provided more than $156.6M in Public Assistance funding for the Utah COVID-19 response to date.

The Utah Department of Health received the $8.4 million in funding from FEMA to purchased personal protective equipment (PPE) including, medical gowns, N95 masks, and gloves for pre-positioning and movement throughout the state of Utah, to manage, control and reduce the immediate threat of COVID 19.

For the COVID-19 response, FEMA has simplified the Public Assistance application and funding process to address the magnitude of this event and to allow local officials to receive eligible funding more quickly. These reimbursements play a critical role as state, tribal and local officials work tirelessly to assist their communities during this response.
