BOSTON – The Federal Emergency Management Agency will be sending more than $2.1 million to the State of New Hampshire to reimburse the state for the cost of providing testing for the public during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The $2,105,753 FEMA Public Assistance grant to the Department of Health & Human Services will reimburse it for contracting to provide 35,051 COVID-19 tests between May and December 2020.

In addition to providing tests for uninsured residents at locations in Alton, Belmont, Epping, Goffstown, Hooksett, Lebanon, Plaistow, Portsmouth, Tilton, Brattleboro, Lincoln, and Littleton, the state also contracted to provide portable toilets at the community testing facilities.

“FEMA is pleased to be able to assist the State of New Hampshire with these costs,” said FEMA Region 1 Regional Administrator Lori Ehrlich. “Providing resources for our partners on the front lines of the pandemic fight is critical to their success, and our success as a nation.”

FEMA’s Public Assistance program is an essential source of funding for states and communities recovering from a federally declared disaster or emergency.

So far, FEMA has provided more than $161 million in Public Assistance grants to New Hampshire to reimburse the state for pandemic-related expenses.
