Helena, Mont. – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded more than $1.2 million in disaster assistance to survivors of June’s severe storms and flooding event.
More than 554 Montana residents have applied for FEMA assistance. As of July 18, the agency has disbursed:
- More than $1,150,000 in Housing Assistance to repair damaged homes.
- More than $62,000 in Other Needs Assistance, which covers personal property damaged during the disaster.
Additional assistance provided through the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) includes:
- $1,053,700 in low-interest disaster loans approved to Montana homeowners, renters, businesses and private nonprofit organizations through the U.S. SBA.
- FEMA’s NFIP has paid more than $907,000 in flood insurance claims in Montana. A total of 100 claims have been submitted.
FEMA assistance for individuals and families affected by the severe storms and floods can help with rental assistance, temporary housing, home repairs, personal property losses and other disaster-related needs not covered by insurance. Both homeowners and renters in Carbon, Park, and Stillwater counties may be eligible for assistance.
The deadline to apply for disaster assistance is August 29, 2022.

- Online at DisasterAssistance.gov
- By phone at 800-621-3362. Press 1 for English, 2 for Spanish and 3 for all other languages. Those who use a relay service such as video relay service (VRS), captioned telephone service or others, give FEMA the number for that service. Phone lines operate from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. MDT seven days a week
- Download FEMA’s mobile app. Select Disaster Resources and click on Apply for Assistance Online.
