In May 2015, the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation was hit by a series of severe storms and flooding.  The aftermath of those events resulted in the first ever federal Individual Assistance declaration made directly to a tribal nation.  Below are stories and information about the recovery efforts in support of the Oglala Sioux Tribe.

New Manufactured Housing Unit (MHU) installed and certified “ready for occupancy” (RFO) with the assistance of FEMA Logistics and FEMA Individual Assistance for an Oglala Sioux Tribe disaster survivor on the Pine Ridge Reservation in Oglala Lakota County, South Dakota.
