Disaster Recovery Centers to Operate as SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Centers

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – When the registration period for federal disaster assistance ends May 31, FEMA’s disaster recovery centers will begin operating as disaster loan outreach centers for the U.S. Small Business Administration.

A recovery center in Wasilla already converted to a disaster loan outreach center May 16.

On June 3, two other loan outreach centers will begin serving those affected by the Nov. 30 earthquake. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday at:

  • Spenard Community Recreation Center, 2020 West 48th Ave., West Conference Room, Anchorage, AK 99517
  • Community Covenant Church, 16123 Artillery Rd., Eagle River, AK 99577
  • Christ First United Methodist Church, 2635 S. Old Knik Rd., Wasilla, AK 99654

SBA provides low-interest, long-term disaster loans to businesses of all sizes, private non-profit organizations, homeowners and renters to repair or replace uninsured/underinsured disaster damaged property. Customer service representatives at the centers are available to answer questions, explain the disaster loan program and close approved disaster loans. SBA also offers loans for insurance deductibles and while insurance claims are pending.

Individuals have until May 31 to register for federal disaster assistance and return SBA loan applications for physical property damage. The filing deadline for businesses to submit loan applications for economic injury is Nov. 1.
