President Donald J. Trump Approves Major Disaster Declaration for Kentucky

WASHINGTON – FEMA announced today that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the commonwealth of Kentucky to supplement commonwealth and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by severe storms, straight-line winds, flooding, landslides and mudslides from Feb. 6 to March 10, 2019.

Federal funding is available to commonwealth and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the severe storms, straight-line winds, flooding, landslides and mudslides in Adair, Ballard, Bell, Boyd, Breathitt, Butler, Campbell, Carlisle, Carroll, Carter, Casey, Clay, Crittenden, Cumberland, Edmonson, Elliott, Estill, Floyd, Grant, Greenup, Hancock, Harlan, Henderson, Henry, Jackson, Johnson, Knott, Knox, Laurel, Lawrence, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Livingston, Madison, Magoffin, Marion, Marshall, Martin, McCracken, McCreary, Metcalfe, Morgan, Owsley, Pendleton, Perry, Pike, Powell, Rockcastle, Russell, Trigg, Union, Washington, Wayne, Webster, Whitley and Wolfe counties.

Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures within the state.

Allan Jarvis has been named as the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected area. Jarvis said additional designations may be made at a later date if warranted by the results of further damage assessments.
