American Red Cross - Northern Mariana Islands Chapter

Mission

The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.

Typhoon Yutu Response

ARC is currently providing approximately 3,000 meals a day to families in shelters. ARC is also spearheading the individual home assessments and providing house-to-house relief for families all across the islands of Saipan and Tinian.

Center for Living Independently

Mission

To ensure the rights of individuals with disabilities to allow them to live independently and fully integrated within the community, outside of an institutional care setting.

Typhoon Yutu Response

The Center is working hard to make sure all its consumers, who are individuals with disabilities, have access to their basic needs post-Typhoon Yutu. The Center is also reopening for consumers to create a sense of normalcy.

Church 360 Saipan

Mission

Typhoon Yutu Response

Church 360 is dedicated to supporting the supporters. They are preparing care packages for DPS personnel who lost property in Yutu and over the coming months, will continue to find ways to support those who work tirelessly to rebuild the Marianas.

Commonwealth Advocates for Recovery Efforts (CARE CNMI)

The mission of the Commonwealth Advocates for Recovery Efforts (CARE) is to build a resilient community and to identify, facilitate, and deliver resources and long-term support to address the unmet needs of individuals and families impacted by disaster.

Empty Vessel

Mission

To empower individuals and communities, work with people and communities experiencing poverty to empower them to address poverty, work with organizations to build a strong anti-poverty network in Saipan community, support the development of fund that promotes socioeconomic and combats poverty, raise awareness about poverty and encourage the public to help aid solutions in distributing resources.

Empty Vessel is distributing donations of clothes, bedding, and other household items to individuals and families in need out of their establishment in Gualo Rai. EV has also provided food to families when donated.

Karidat

Mission

A Catholic Charities Agency, Karidat has been supporting the most vulnerable in our across the CNMI over the last 38 years.

Typhoon Yutu Response

Karidat is currently dispersing relief goods they receive as donations to the shelters. Once their facility is repaired from damages sustained from Typhoon Yutu, they will start dispersing more critical goods to the most critical in our community.

Saipan Lions Club International

Mission

To empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs.

Typhoon Yutu Response

The six Lions Clubs in the CNMI banded together to host its first Super Typhoon Yutu relief assistance distribution at the Latter-Day Saints church on Middle Road. The club was able to distribute noodles, canned goods, mosquito coils, toiletries, and more to 400 families with the goal to host future distributions.

MYPros is providing 90-day disaster recovery support from Typhoon Yutu. They are currently providing 4 families relocation and case support at the MYPros Disaster Recovery Center, purchasing 1000+ meals per day, and providing mass distribution of relief goods through their expansive volunteer base.

The LDS Saipan Ward has acquired chainsaws to assist with debris removal and is also supporting distribution of goods to members as well as non-members of the LDS Church family.

Team Koka

Mission

Team Koka, Tinian-based local charitable organization, is working with friends across the continental U.S. and across international waters to get much needed supplies to the rural island to help with recovery.

Typhoon Yutu Response

Team Koko is accepting donations of clothes, bedding, toiletries, and nonperishable foods to help provide much needed supplies to the residents of Tinian. The money received from this campaign will be coordinated with Team Koka to help support any local or surrounding businesses still in operation and to give to families in need.

Tinian Women’s Association

Typhoon Yutu Response

TWA is spearheading “Project Osiliu,” a partnership between Star Marianas, Haya Foundation, and Lekityan of Guam to deliver and distribute donations to the people of Tinian, with priority given to homebound, disabled, children ages 5 and below and families with pregnant women. Shipments from the Mainland are being delivered to Carson, California and in partnership with Matson and Triple B, they will be delivered to those in need in Tinian.

500 Sails and Dolphin Swim Club

Mission

500 Sails is a cultural restoration project to bring back the indigenous sailing traditions of the Marianas islands, both Chamorro and Carolinian.

Damages Sustained

The 500 Sails canoe house and boatyard warehouse both lost roofing and are flooded. Their office in the canoe house was ruined when the ceiling collapsed. Their immediate need is metal roofing materials that must purchased and shipped in when the port reopens. Once their canoe house is running, 500 Sails and Dolphin Swim Club will offer free swim lessons to children so they can stay active while they are not in school.

Isla Montessori

Mission statement

Isla Montessori believes in an authentic Montessori approach to education that assists children in navigating through self, community, environmental, and cultural awareness so that they can become exceptional humans. We commit to a partnership with our island community as resources in creating conscious and well rounded individuals.

Damages Sustained

Isla Montessori lost a roof and the storm flooded part of a classroom damaging primary materials. We are in need of new language and math materials, books, pencils, sensorial materials. We are striving to reopen as soon as possible so that the children can have a sense of normalcy in this time of chaos.

Mission statement

Mount Carmel School educates the whole person to see with Christ's eyes.

Damages Sustained

The library and the main office were hit hard, the cafeteria was blown away, roofing was ripped off, and classrooms and offices were flooded. They will rebuild our beloved school, brick by brick, book by book.

Saipan Cares for Animals

Mission statement

We’re a dedicated group of volunteers whose mission is to improve the life of every dog and cat on Saipan through low-cost sterilization, medication, and socialization.

Damages Sustained

SCA sustained a lot of damage to their structures, such as fencing, catios, doors and windows and making it very difficult to care for Saipan’s forgotten dogs and cats. The biggest need is fixing our infrastructure by buying materials and paying for manual labor.

Saipan Community School

Mission statement

It is our mission to prepare Elementary and Junior High school students for further studies and to help them become productive members of society by providing a quality academic education in a Christian environment, emphasizing the importance of integrity, morality, civic responsibility, a positive work ethic, and a proper relationship to God and fellow men and women.

Damages Sustained

SCS lost roofs, has broken plumbing, and they going to have to tear down one of our buildings and rebuild it completely. They are also raising money for families who go to the church who sustained damages to their homes.
