Disaster Recovery Center Opens in Logan County

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management (OEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will open a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Logan County on June 20 to help Oklahomans affected by the severe storms, tornadoes and flooding of May 22-25. The address follows:

Visitors may park in the lot at the corner of East Cleveland Avenue and North Broad Street. Follow the signs to the DRC at the back of the school. Hours of operation will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., starting Monday, June 20 and running through Saturday, June 25. FEMA does not distribute cash, check, debit cards or vouchers at DRCs.

Representatives from OEM, FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will be available at the DRC to answer questions, help with disaster loan applications and provide recovery information. When registering, applicants will be asked to provide:

  • Social Security number
  • Address of the damaged home or apartment
  • Description of the damage
  • Information about insurance coverage
  • A current contact telephone number
  • An address where they can get mail
  • Bank account and routing numbers if they want direct deposit of any financial assistance.

Disaster assistance may include grants to help pay for rent and home repairs, replace personal property and reimburse medical, storage and other serious disaster-related expenses not covered by insurance. Assistance may also include low-interest federal disaster loans from the SBA.

Survivors should register with FEMA even if they have insurance. FEMA cannot duplicate insurance payments, but under-insured applicants may receive help after their insurance claims have been settled.

SBA offers disaster loans to homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes and private, nonprofit organizations for their uncompensated losses. Homeowners may borrow up to $200,000 to repair or replace their primary residence. Homeowners and renters may borrow up to $40,000 to replace personal property. Businesses may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace their property damage and/or economic losses.
