  • <p>Lynn Haven, Florida, October 29, 2018 &ndash; Roofing specialists under the supervision of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers assist a homeowner and disaster survivor with temporary &ldquo;Blue Roof&rdquo; repairs following Hurricane Michael, which made landfall in the U.S. near Mexico Beach, Florida on October 10, 2018. Operation Blue Roof is a priority mission managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The purpose of Operation Blue Roof is to provide homeowners in disaster areas with fiber-reinforced sheeting to cover their damaged roofs until arrangements can be made for permanent repairs. Operation Blue Roof protects property, reduces temporary housing costs, and allows residents to remain in their homes while recovering from the storm. FEMA partners with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, other federal agencies, the state, local communities, counties, tribal entities, private sector, and voluntary organizations active in disaster (VOAD) to provide assistance to disaster survivors and local communities.
