  • FEMA, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the U.S. Forest Service, the Town of Rochester, White River Partnership, and the State of Vermont, teamed up after Tropical Storm Irene to create new enhanced fish passages. This new design helps with aquatic and terrestrial crossings, survives 100-year floods, and helps prevent future damage.

  • In August of 2011, Tropical Storm Irene destroyed the Bartonsville Covered Bridge. A year and a half later, thanks to insurance funds, federal, local and privately raised money, this Vermont icon was reopened.
