Landslide Near a Hurricane María Survivor's Home in Utuado

Landslide caused by heavy rains during and after Hurricane Maria remains bare behind a survivor’s home.

UTUADO, Puerto Rico, April 26, 2018– A landslide caused by heavy rains during and after Hurricane María remains bare behind a survivor’s home. After Hurricane María struck Puerto Rico on September 20, 2017, the Dos Bocas Watershed, the main source of water for the metropolitan area surrounding Utuado, experienced many landslides. Through subsequent soil assessments, all of the landsides have been digitized and additional data collected on 607 of them in order to extrapolate data on the watershed.
