Guidelines for Determining Flood Hazards on Alluvial Fans

Cover photo for the document: Guidelines for Determining Flood Hazards on Alluvial Fans
This Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) guidance document addresses recommendations in a report by the National Research Council (NRC) Committee on Alluvial Fan Flooding. The 22-page document provides guidance for the identification and mapping of flood hazards occurring on alluvial fans, regardless of the level of fan forming activity, including active and inactive alluvial fan flooding. This document was superseded by the issuance of FEMA's "Guidelines and Specifications for Flood Hazard Mapping Partners" in February 2002.
