ST. CROIX, U.S. Virgin Islands – A commitment of $928.7 million to demolish and replace Roy Lester Schneider Hospital on St. Thomas marks a milestone in FEMA’s collaboration with the territory to rebuild the healthcare infrastructure across the U.S. Virgin Islands damaged during hurricanes Irma and Maria in September 2017.
FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell announced today that President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. made additional disaster assistance available to the U.S. Virgin Islands by authorizing an increase in the level of federal funding for costs resulting from hurricanes Irma and Maria in September 2017.
FEMA is looking for students in grades eight to 11 in the U.S. Virgin Islands who are passionate about making a positive impact in their community to apply for an opportunity to join the Youth Preparedness Council. The council brings teens together from across the nation who are interested in community preparedness and looking to build leadership skills and networks that will feed their success into the future.
