FEMA announced that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the state of Iowa to supplement state, tribal and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by flooding from April 24 to May 13, 2023.
FEMA is urging the Midwest and central United States to stay alert for severe weather risks this week. The National Weather Service is predicting intense and widespread severe thunderstorms, including tornadoes in some areas.
Severe winter weather is expected to take aim at much of the Midwest this week so emergency management professionals are urging residents and business owners to be ready for everything from snow covered roads and power outages, to wind chills well below zero.
