The FEMA National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP) State Assistance Grant Program was created to increase and enhance the effective implementation of earthquake risk reduction at the local level. FEMA makes federal funds available annually through its NEHRP State Assistance Grant Program. This grant program is made to individual states and territories at high and very high-risk of earthquakes, and nonprofit organizations as defined by Title 2 Code of Federal Regulations (C.F.R.) Section 200.1 and institutions of higher education as defined by Title 2 C.F.R., Section 200.1.

Cerca de $55.3 millones en fondos federales obligados por la Agencia Federal para el Manejo de Emergencias (FEMA, en inglés) se destinaron a la segunda fase de construcción en la Central Costa Sur en Guayanilla. Esta aportación a la Autoridad de Energía Eléctrica (AEE) de Puerto Rico es parte de la obligación total de unos $9,500 millones para la restauración de la red eléctrica de la isla por medio de la Estrategia de Adjudicación Acelerada (FAASt, en inglés).

Nearly $55.3 million in federal funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were allocated for the second construction phase at the Costa Sur Power Plant in Guayanilla. This allocation to the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) is part of the total obligation of about $9.5 billion for the restoration of the island's power grid through the agency's Accelerated Award Strategy (FAASt).
