FEMA SPECIALISTS LAUNCH CAMPAIGN ON PREVENTING DISASTER DAMAGE [https://www.fema.gov/press-release/20250121/fema-specialists-launch-campaign-preventing-disaster-damage] Release Date: 8월 28, 2018 GUAYNABO, Puerto Rico – FEMA mitigation and building science specialists will be available Thursday-Sunday to provide tips and techniques for building hazard-resistant homes to help prevent or reduce disaster damage.   Casa Segura, or Safe House, workshops will be held at the Plaza del Caribe Mall in Ponce and will be hosted by architect Astrid Diaz and WAPA TV meteorologist Deborah Martorell. The workshops are free to the public.   Mitigation and construction best practices are a priority as Puerto Rico recovers from the 2017 hurricanes. Workshop topics will include hurricane and flood preparedness, safe construction practices, shelter and business plans, flood insurance, rebuilding wind damaged or flooded homes and elevating utilities.   The workshops are scheduled for 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30 through Saturday, Sept. 1 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2.
