Office of the Chief Information Officer

Our Mission

The mission and vision of the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) is to empower FEMA’s workforce through information technology (IT) and build IT Excellence by operating as One FEMA IT.

What We Do

Our office provides enterprise IT services vital to carrying out FEMA’s mission for both disaster survivors and our employees. This includes providing secure IT capabilities so that FEMA IT is “always ready” to support our stakeholders and workforce.

To achieve our mission, we focus on protecting FEMA data and systems, enhancing IT workforce capabilities and stakeholder IT experiences, and simplifying processes and improving transparency across the enterprise.

Office Functions

  • Oversee the management, operations, and maintenance of FEMA information systems, networks, and IT services and critical IT and communications infrastructure day-to-day and during disasters.
  • Assess new technologies and analyze emerging IT requirements to support stakeholder needs and to ensure compliance with policies, directives, and standards.
  • Oversee and manage the FEMA cybersecurity program and the protection of FEMA networks, systems, and assets in compliance with federal laws and regulations and departmental policy.
  • Coordinate and integrate policies, directives, procedures, and activities to ensure effective and efficient planning, finance and acquisitions, and enterprise risk management in support of Agency and office IT needs.
