The Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) Technical Support Services Facility (TSSF) Training and Exercise Staff will host a panel discussion on Cross Cultural Communications in Alert, Warning and Notification (AWN).

Our panelists include those directly impacted by the Dec. 2021 tornadoes in Bowling Green, Kentucky. This incident revealed gaps in public alert and warning within linguistically diverse communities. The findings will drive TSSF best practices and provide process improvement recommendations focused on minimizing bias and its impact, resulting in equitable AWN.

This event will be held on site in the IPAWS TSSF at National Harbor, Oxon Hill, Maryland. It also will be available to attend virtually.
