Acting Deputy Assistant Administrator (DAA), Logistics Management Directorate

Peter Camit joined FEMA in June 2008 and since mid-Oct 2020, is serving as the Acting Deputy Assistant Administrator (DAA), Logistics Management Directorate.  Prior to serving in the Acting DAA position, Peter was the Director for the Logistics Operations Division.  The division is responsible for all facets of synchronizing, integrating and coordinating FEMA’s logistics response to disasters, as well as specified logistics response and recovery programs.  These programs include the Transportable Temporary Housing Unit (TTHU) program, for acquiring, storing, maintaining and deploying TTHUs; and the Staging Operations program managing personnel and equipment for the rapid staging of critical commodities and equipment.  Prior to his current position, he served as Deputy Director for Logistics Operations and served as Executive Officer providing executive support to the Assistant Administrator, Logistics Management Directorate. 

Prior to joining FEMA, Peter served and concluded his military career as Director of Logistics for the Air Force Office of Special Investigations.  During his 29 years of duty in the Air Force, he held a variety of supply and logistics positions at Base and Major Command levels and commanded the Supply Squadron and then the Logistics Readiness Squadron while stationed at Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea.

He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from University College, University of Maryland in 1982 and a Master of Public Administration from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California in 1987.  He is originally from the Island of Guam, and now resides in Maryland with his spouse; he has two daughters who live in Florida with their families.
