Media Advisory: Springfield FEMA Recovery Center Transitioning to SBA Disaster Loan Outreach Center

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Disaster Recovery Center in Springfield will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Wednesday, March 9, except for Sunday when it will be closed. On Thursday, March 10, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will open a Disaster Loan Outreach Center at the same location:

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               Operating Operating hours for the SBA center are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, until further notice.  

SBA customer service representatives will be available to meet individually with business owners and residents to answer their questions, explain SBA’s disaster loan program, issue applications, help people complete their applications and close their approved disaster loans. 

Following a federally declared disaster, the SBA makes low interest disaster recovery loans to businesses of all sizes, most nonprofit organizations, homeowners and renters to help them pay for restoring their property and possessions to pre-disaster condition.

Anyone with questions about or who needs to register for FEMA assistance can call the FEMA helpline, 800-621-3362 (800-621-FEMA). The Helpline is staffed 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week until further notice. Multilingual assistance is available. Individuals and businesses may also register online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by using the FEMA app for smartphones.

Disaster assistance applicants who are hard of hearing or have a speech disability and use TTY should call 800-462-7585. Those who use 711 or Video Relay Service (VRS) should call 800-621-3362.
