  • Issue
    • The subapplicant appealed the Region V decision to disallow all costs related to this safe room project. Determination had been made that information was not sufficient to address safety concerns related to a 2nd story addition.
  •  Reason for Approval
    • The subapplicant's architect certified the project as built conforms to FEMA P-361, Safe Rooms for Tornadoes and Hurricanes, and ICC 500-2014 ICC/NSSA Standard for the Design and Construction of Storm Shelters.
    • The architect also verified adequacy of the roof live load, and assured the sound engineering connection between the originally approved safe room and the addition.
