PHILADELPHIA – The Federal Emergency Management Agency has provided more than $4 billion to Region 3 states and the District of Columbia for costs related to saving lives and protecting the public from COVID-19. In addition to Washington, DC, Region 3 includes Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. Funds were distributed among local partners, state partners, school districts, other public entities, and certain private nonprofits.
With obligations last week to two Charleston healthcare systems, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) financial assistance has reached $100 million for the State of West Virginia in its ongoing fight against COVID-19.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s mission is to help people. In doing so, FEMA Region 3 has marked an important milestone in its COVID-19 operation: funeral assistance funds provided to families of applicants have topped $208 million.
