FEMA AWARDS NEARLY $1.6 MILLION TO THE UNIVERSITY OF CONNECTICUT FOR COVID TESTING EXPENSES [https://www.fema.gov/press-release/20220516/fema-awards-nearly-1-6-million-university-connecticut-covid-testing-expenses] Release Date: mai 16, 2022 BOSTON – The Federal Emergency Management Agency will be sending nearly $1.6 million to the State of Connecticut to reimburse the University of Connecticut for the costs of providing testing during the COVID-19 pandemic. The public land-grant research university in Storrs will receive a total of $1,578,835 in federal funding through FEMA’s Public Assistance grant program to reimburse it for the costs of providing 12,824 tests for students and staff between June 2020 and June 2021. “FEMA is pleased to be able to assist the University of Connecticut with these costs,” said FEMA Region 1 Regional Administrator Lori Ehrlich. “Providing resources for our partners on the front lines of the pandemic fight is critical to their success, and our success as a nation.” FEMA’s Public Assistance program is an essential source of funding for states and communities recovering from a federally declared disaster or emergency. So far, FEMA has provided nearly $403 million in Public Assistance grants to Connecticut to reimburse the state for pandemic-related expenses.
