FEMA AWARDS $7.5 MILLION TO ALASKA FOR COVID-19 RESPONSE [https://www.fema.gov/press-release/4533/20210521/fema-awards-7-5-million-alaska-covid-19-response] Release Date: mai 21, 2021 BOTHELL, WASH. – The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded the Alaska Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHS&EM) $7.5 million for COVID-19 emergency protective measures. This $7,576,365 grant is provided at 100 percent federal cost share to DHS&EM to disburse to Alaska’s Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) for emergency protective measures. Grants for emergency protective measures are funded through FEMA’s Public Assistance Grant Program [https://www.fema.gov/assistance/public], which reimburses communities for eligible actions taken to respond to and recover from a disaster. Eligible costs incurred by DHSS included labor for community-based testing sites, setting up alternate care facilities, technical assistance, disseminating public health and safety information, and the distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE) and medical supplies. FEMA streamlined the Public Assistance application and reimbursement process for the COVID-19 response so that applicants can receive funds faster. Expedited reimbursements help state, local and tribal officials respond quickly to address immediate threats to life, public health, and safety.   ### Follow FEMA Region 10 on Twitter [https://twitter.com/femaregion10], LinkedIn [http://www.linkedin.com/company/fema-region-10], and our COVID-19 photo and video library [https://photos.app.goo.gl/ZvZGwn1NGnDExnhD6] for the latest updates.
