Jason Wind serves as the Acting Regional Administrator Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region II located in NY, NY. FEMA Region two supports the jurisdictions of NY, NJ, PR and the USVI. Mr. Wind’s responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to, coordinating response planning, logistics management, Federal operational integration, situational awareness sharing, program delivery, grants management and preparedness activities to the previously mentioned stakeholders.
Mr. Wind has worked for FEMA for over 20 yrs. He began his career as an IT specialist in 1999 supporting the FEMA response in New Jersey to Hurricane Floyd. In 2006, following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Mr. Wind was selected as the Logistics Section Chief for the Louisiana Transitional Recovery Office based out of New Orleans, LA. In 2009, Mr. Wind returned to Region II when he accepted the position of Logistics Branch Chief. In 2016, Jason was selected for the Region II Response Division Director and has held this position since.
Jason deployed to over 30 presidentially declared disasters CONUS and OCONUS including, but not limited to, Typhoons in the pacific, Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav, Matthew, Irene, Ike, Maria and Irma. Jason also deployed to Superstorm Sandy and the 9/11 attacks. Mr. Wind continues to lead the COVID 19 Personal Protective Equipment and vaccination support efforts to Region II supported jurisdictions. Additionally, Mr. Wind evaluated, participated, and developed numerous exercises on both the National and Regional levels.
Mr. Wind is qualified as a type II Logistics Section Chief, type II Service Branch Director, type II Support Branch Director and type II External Support Branch Director. Mr. Wind also serves as the Regional Coordinating Officer of the Regional Response Coordination Center (RRCC) when activated. Mr. Wind previously was rostered on the now defunct Emergency Response Team National Blue and White Teams. These were national teams comprised of full-time employees from throughout the agency who deployed to larger scale events.
Before his time with FEMA, Mr. Wind attended William Patterson University and worked there as the Vice President of Information Technology. Mr. Wind currently resides in great State of New Jersey.
