Proposed Flood Map Reflects Changes to Grand County Flood Risk, Insurance Rates - 90-Day Appeal Period for Filing Appeals and Comments Begins February 14, 2019

DENVER — A portion of Grand County’s flood insurance rate map update for Pack Creek is nearing completion. The new maps will provide Grand County with more accurate flood risk information that can help local officials and residents make informed decisions about reducing flood risks and purchasing flood insurance.

The mapping project was prepared by Grand County and is part of a nationwide effort led by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to increase local knowledge of flood risks and support actions to address and reduce those risks.

FEMA Approves North Dakota Enhanced Mitigation Plan

DENVER – This week, the Federal Emergency Management Agency approved North Dakota’s Mitigation Plan.  For the first time the plan meets the criteria for “enhanced” status, signifying the state’s commitment to hazard mitigation and making the state eligible for increased federal mitigation funding. North Dakota will be the first state in FEMA Region VIII and the twelfth nationwide to achieve the designation.

FEMA Grants Awarded to Colorado Springs: More than $4.6 million awarded for stream stabilization projects

WASHINGTON – The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced today that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the state of Montana to supplement state, tribal and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by flooding from May 1 to June 10, 2018.
