FEMA Approves $1.8 Million for Electric Distribution Repairs

PHILADELPHIA – The Commonwealth of Virginia will receive $1,838,646.90 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency in federal funding for distribution repairs as a result of damages from Tropical Storm Michael.

PHILADELPHIA – Residents of the City of Norfolk, Virginia have received a reduction in their flood insurance premiums through an increase of various floodplain management measures encouraged by the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

West Virginia Floodplain Management Association Celebrates 10 Years with Call for Every Citizen to Take Action

PHILADELPHIA – West Virginia knows flooding. In the past 10 years, West Virginia has had 15 federal disaster declarations for flooding and other related hazards, including the historic flood event in June 2016. Flooding has and will continue to impact the lives of West Virginians; however, action is being taken to reduce that risk and protect lives and property across the state.

Prepare Today for the 2019 Hurricane Season

PHILADELPHIA – On September 12, 2018, Hurricane Florence was approaching the mid-Atlantic region as a massive Category 4 hurricane, threatening to bring dangerous storm surge, winds, and massive flooding to coastal Virginia. Within a couple of days, the storm tracked south but brought strong winds and rain to eastern Virginia instead, causing damage across the Commonwealth.
