1:00 - 1:05 PM: Linda Mastandrea, FEMA, Director, Office of Disability Integration and Coordination

Linda will provide an overview of how FEMA Disability Integration specialists and advisors are deploying to ensure the needs of people with disabilities are integrated in all facets of vaccine center operation. They are analyzing community demographics, coordinating translation and interpretation services, to include American Sign Language, and are considering the needs of people with disabilities who choose to be vaccinated. 

1:05 - 1:15PM, Keynote:  Senior Official Performing the Duties of the FEMA Administrator Robert Fenton

In alignment with President Biden’s plan to respond to COVID-19 FEMA has increased its support to states, tribes, and territories for community vaccination centers. Mr. Fenton is overseeing FEMA’s coordination with federal partners to provide support for critical staffing and supplies and help get more people vaccinated. Under his leadership, FEMA is committed to leveraging our stakeholder partnerships to promote equity as a cornerstone of vaccine operations and ensure the needs of people with disabilities are integrated in all facets of the national effort.

1:15 - 1:25 PM: FEMA Vaccine Task Force Lead Chad Gorman

The FEMA Vaccine Task Force leads the Agency’s efforts at the local level, providing regions with support on the delivery of federal assistance to state, tribal and territorial (STT) managed Community Vaccination Center.  As the Task Force lead, Chad Gorman establishes and sustains unity of effort through FEMA’s National Response Coordination Center and with the FEMA Regions, including the equity of resources allocation and integrating the needs of people with disabilities into operations.

1:25 – 1:35 PM: FEMA Office of Equal Rights Director Jo Linda Johnson

FEMA’s Office of Equal Rights (OER) works to ensure that FEMA meets its ongoing commitment to equal opportunity for members of the public seeking access to FEMA programs and activities. As the lead for the FEMA’s Civil Rights Advisory Group, Jo Linda will discuss how FEMA is ensuring equity in the allocation of scarce resources, including any additional future allocations of vaccine.

1:35 – 1:45 PM: Dr. Karen Remley (MD, MBA, MPH, FAAP), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Director, CDC National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities

Dr. Karen Remley will provide an update on CDC’s COVID-19 Vaccine Implementation and highlight special challenges and considerations for vaccination of adults with disabilities. Dr. Remley will also review CDC’s COVID-19 vaccination toolkits and resources.
