With an estimated 53 million people in the United States providing care for someone ill, disabled, or older, the need for proactive disaster preparedness within this community cannot be overstated. This webinar will build upon the success of a previous webinar held in January with the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers (RCI), where FEMA and RCI discussed the importance of preparing caregivers, their support networks, and care recipients for disasters.
FEMA and RCI have since released a comprehensive guide titled, “Take Control 1, 2, 3: Disaster Preparedness Guide for Caregivers,” which will be discussed during the webinar. This guide, informed by caregivers within RCI’s 4Kinds Network, addresses the unique challenges faced by caregivers and offers practical solutions to ensure the safety and well-being of both caregivers and their care recipients in the event of a disaster.
Participants can expect insightful discussions with caregivers and emergency management experts who will highlight key considerations and essential steps to develop a robust preparedness plan. This event aims to support caregivers in their efforts to engage their support networks effectively and protect their loved ones and care recipients during emergencies.
