FEMA Press Secretary Lizzie Litzow Statement on Major Privacy Incident

WASHINGTON -- FEMA, in coordination with the Department of Homeland Security Office of the Inspector General (DHS OIG), identified an incident involving the sharing of sensitive, personally identifiable information of disaster survivors using the Transitional Sheltering Assistance program.  In transferring disaster survivor information to a contractor, FEMA provided more information than was necessary.

President Donald J. Trump Approves Major Disaster Declaration for Nebraska

WASHINGTON – The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the state of Nebraska to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by severe winter storm, straight-line winds and flooding beginning on March 9, 2019, and continuing.

State/FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers Open in Lee County

CLANTON, Ala. – The State of Alabama and FEMA will open two disaster recovery centers in the Lee County cities of Smiths Station and Opelika Friday, March 15.
The centers offer in-person support to individuals and businesses in Lee County affected by the recent tornadoes.
Recovery specialists from FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), the state and other interests will be at the centers to talk about available assistance and to help anyone who needs guidance. The centers are located at:

FEMA announces cost share adjustment for Florida

WASHINGTON, DC – Acting FEMA Administrator Pete Gaynor announced that on Saturday, the President made additional assistance available for the state of Florida’s Hurricane Michael recovery efforts.

This approval allows for 100 percent retroactive federal funding to cover all costs for debris removal, emergency protective measures and direct federal assistance from Oct. 10 to Nov. 24, 2018.
